Acquiring stuff happens.
Whether we're building a collection, engaging in retail therapy, or equipping ourselves with necessary equipment for a hobby, one day we turn around and seemingly all-of-a-sudden, there's no place to put anything new.
Shelves are full, cupboards are a jumble, and bins are spilling over with who-remembers-what. Our open spaces shrink to the point where we ourselves feel overstuffed and we are no longer able to find clarity, freedom, or peace.
There's just too. much. stuff.
If you're resonating with this even in the slightest, let's tap. It's time to break free and see the light again.

When you think about all the stuff in your space, how do you feel? Where are you at on the scale? (see scale below) (If this question doesn't make sense, check out this video.)
Let's tap ...
Side of hand:
There's so much stuff... too much. I really don't want to think about it.
Even though there's too much stuff and I don't want to think about, I'm going to be honest with myself for a few minutes and see how tapping might help.
I don't want to think about this though. It's overwhelming, upsetting, frustrating, and I don't feel like doing what's it's going to take to make a difference.
Eyebrow: I don't want to think about all this stuff.
Side of the eye: I respect that I don't want to think about all this stuff.
Under the eye: At the same time, I want to think about it enough to do something about it.
Under the nose: I'm tired of having too much stuff around me.
Under mouth: There's so much I don't need.
Collarbone: There's plenty I don't even want.
Thumb: It's going take too much effort at this point to clear things out.
Index finger: I'd rather do other things.
Middle finger: It's not so bad.
Ring finger: I've lived with it this long.
Little finger: Oooh. I have. I have been living with it.
Top of head: It's been like living with a burdensome roommate.
Eyebrow: A roommate that doesn't even contribute to expenses!
Side of the eye: This is not okay.
Under the eye : I don't have to live with this.
Under the nose: I have options.
Under the mouth: Some of this stuff isn't mine though.
Collarbone: I can't just get rid of everything.
Thumb: I don't actually want to get rid of everything.
Index finger: How do I know what to keep?
Middle finger: How do I know what I will need in the future?
Ring finger: Is it okay to edit my stuff based on who I am right now?
Little finger: What if I get rid of something that I'll want later?
Side of hand: How do I know what's important and what isn't?
Top of head: One thing's for sure, my happiness is important
Eyebrow: and I'm not happy feeling crowded by all this stuff.
Side of the eye: I choose to value my happiness.
Under the eye: If I let go of (name something you want to be rid of) , I would feel better.
Under the nose: It would feel good if (name something you don't want in the house anymore) wasn't in the house anymore.
Under the mouth: I can move those things out.
Collarbone: I can move other things out.
Thumb: I can take action toward my happiness.
Index finger : I wonder what it would feel like to have more organized spaces.
Middle finger: What would it look like?
Ring finger: It would feel good to be able to find things when I want them.
Little finger: It might even be fun designing my space according to what feels good to me, rather than according to where I can put stuff.
Side of hand: I don't need all of this stuff.
Top of head: It's okay to take action toward my happiness.
Collarbone: It's okay to take it one thing at a time.
Take a deep breath.
Where are you at on the scale now? (see scale below)
We've touched on just a few of the thoughts and feelings that come up with regards to having too much stuff.
Issues around this topic are many and varied, including: things that evoke emotion, other people's things, feeling overwhelmed, and sometimes surprisingly, that's it's okay to be happy.
